Working from home has its advantages. You can have more family time, snack whenever you want, work from anywhere in the world, and save money that would have been spent on bus fair, Uber, or gas. What about the downsides though?
From my perspective having a lack of focus, procrastinating, and losing motivation are the greatest downfalls of working from home. Those things can completely ruin the experience of working from home and have us begging to go back into a physical location. We then start saying we are “stuck at home” instead of saying “I get to stay home”. Working from home is a privilege and we should start treating it as such.
I have discovered that we can challenge those problem areas by pushing ourselves to be better with techniques that keep us on track. This makes working from home one of the best experiences we can ever have. Listed below are five techniques that you can implement into your life now.
1. Set specific working hours
2. Temporarily block social media or remove apps
3. Designate a workspace in your home
4. Ask family & friends to not contact you during work hours
5. Get ready in the morning even though you aren’t leaving the house
